Viral “Chacha” Gets a ‘Software Update’ After Ranting Against Government

Lahore: The man who recently went viral for angrily cursing the government during a rainstorm has now appeared in a new video — with a very different tone. Following his detention by police, the individual can be seen in a released video apologizing and expressing support for the government, saying: “Apologies to the Government of Pakistan, long live the Chief Minister, long live the Pakistan Army, long live Pakistan.”
The original viral clip showed the man unexpectedly stepping into a video being recorded during a rainstorm and launching into an expletive-filled rant against the authorities, blaming them for the poor drainage and flooding.
However, after being taken into custody, officials appear to have conducted what social media users are calling a successful “software update” — a sarcastic term used in Pakistan to refer to a forced change in someone’s stance, usually after pressure from authorities.
