Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Launches Rs. 4 Billion ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ Scheme to Provide Interest-Free Housing Loans

Peshawar, Pakistan –** The **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government** has launched the **’Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ Scheme**, a flagship initiative aimed at providing **interest-free housing loans** to low-income families across the province. The scheme is backed by a **Rs. 4 billion fund** and was formally inaugurated at a ceremony held at the **Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar**, where **Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur** distributed loan cheques to successful applicants.

A total of **67 beneficiaries** received their cheques during the event, as part of a process designed to ensure **transparency** through **computerized balloting**. The initiative targets individuals aged **18 to 65 years** with a **monthly income below Rs. 150,000**, offering **interest-free loans up to Rs. 1.5 million**, repayable in **easy installments over seven years**.

In his address, CM Gandapur described the program as a **pro-poor and visionary step** aligned with **Imran Khan’s vision** of affordable housing for all. He emphasized that the scheme is part of the government’s broader strategy to **empower the underprivileged** and provide them with **dignified housing solutions**.

He further noted that the scheme received **123,000 applications** in its first phase, out of which **18,555 applicants** were found eligible under the specified criteria. The loan disbursement will continue through a **revolving fund mechanism**, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Chief Minister Gandapur also highlighted ongoing efforts to address economic challenges in the province, stating, *“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is now on the path to economic self-reliance due to our team’s tireless efforts. We will continue to expand our resources and invest in our people.”*

He announced that the provincial government is soon launching another project aimed at **providing solar systems** to deserving households, further alleviating the burden on low-income families.
