Foreign Doctors’ Remarkable Achievement at LRH Peshawar: Successful Heart Surgeries for Children

Peshawar: A team of expert doctors from Turkey and England recently completed successful heart surgeries on children suffering from congenital heart diseases at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar. Over the course of five days, the team conducted open-heart surgeries and treated over 70 children with heart defects, including holes in the heart and other complex cardiac conditions.
According to the hospital spokesperson, Mohammad Asim, the foreign medical team consisted of 10 renowned cardiac surgeons, along with a catheter lab manager, anesthetists, and ICU nurses. The children who received treatment ranged in age from six months to 12 years.
This is the first time that Lady Reading Hospital has been selected for the “Little Heart” mission, offering free heart surgeries for underprivileged children from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The mission was a major success, with several lives saved through complex surgeries. The foreign doctors will return to Pakistan in January next year, when they plan to perform over 100 surgeries.
In a ceremony marking the completion of the surgeries, Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali praised the efforts of the expert cardiac surgeons. He said that these surgeries marked a significant milestone for pediatric heart surgery at LRH.
