Grand Tribal Jirga Held in Dalbandin: Major Development Announcements for Rakhshan Division

Dalbandin:A large tribal jirga was held in the central city of Chagai district, Dalbandin, where key figures including Governor of Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Commander Balochistan Corps Lt. Gen. Rahat Naseem Ahmad Khan, provincial ministers, senators, the Chief Secretary, IG Police, IG FC South Balochistan, senior civil and military officials, tribal elders, women, students, and a large number of citizens participated.

The jirga began with a floral wreath-laying ceremony and Fatiha at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument). Throughout the day, participants engaged with tribal leaders, local businessmen, women, and youth, listening to their issues and gathering suggestions through mutual consultation.

In his address, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described the Rakhshan Division as “the heart of Balochistan and Pakistan,” highlighting its immense significance due to abundant natural resources and mineral wealth. He announced that in the current fiscal year, the Rakhshan Division has been allocated priority funding, with 1 billion rupees earmarked for development in each district, to be utilized via local district administrations.

A major 30 billion rupees development package was specifically announced for the remote district of Washuk, aimed at addressing long-standing underdevelopment. Bugti also announced that profits from the upcoming LPG plant in Taftan will be reinvested into the development of the town itself.

Touching on the Reko Diq project, he stated that 25% of the project’s profits will go directly to Balochistan. All unskilled labor for the project has been hired from within the province, and professional roles will be increasingly filled by locals after receiving foreign training—ensuring long-term regional participation and skill development.

He further revealed that the Katagar crossing point on the Iran border will be opened as an official corridor to enhance regional connectivity and economic activity. A series of development initiatives were also announced, including:

Distribution of laptops to BS program students in all public degree colleges of Rakhshan Division

Establishment of a Women Police Station in Dalbandin

Construction of a sports complex at Government Boys Degree College, Kharan

The Chief Minister praised the tribal community’s sacrifices in fighting terrorism, condemning the killing of innocent people and the radicalization of youth. He stressed that the state will assert its authority and continue taking strict action against terrorism.

Tribal leaders also addressed the jirga, lauding the role of security forces in maintaining peace across Balochistan and pledging their full support to the government and law enforcement agencies.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for high-achieving students from across the Rakhshan Division. The jirga was widely viewed as a symbol of state-tribal unity and a step forward in fostering regional stability and development.
