Severe Hailstorm Devastates Qilla Saifullah; Khail, Houses Destroyed, PKNAP Demands Immediate Relief

Qilla Saifullah: Severe hailstorms and heavy rains have caused widespread destruction in various areas of Qilla Saifullah, damaging crops, houses, and basic infrastructure, according to a statement issued by the provincial secretariat of Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PKNAP).

The party said that the recent natural disaster has partially and completely destroyed dozens of homes, while standing crops of local farmers have been wiped out, leaving the farming community in severe financial distress. Many families have reportedly been forced to live under open skies in extremely difficult conditions.

The statement further noted that roads, communication links, and other basic infrastructure have also suffered extensive damage, severely disrupting transportation and connectivity in the affected areas. Essential services such as electricity, clean drinking water, food supplies, and medicines have also been badly affected, creating shortages for the local population.

Expressing concern over the situation, PKNAP strongly criticized the provincial government and relevant institutions for what it termed “criminal silence” and “traditional sluggish response,” saying that affected communities have been left without immediate assistance.

The party demanded that the National Disaster Management Authority National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other relevant bodies immediately launch emergency rescue and relief operations in the affected areas. It also called on the provincial government to conduct a transparent and impartial damage assessment survey to ensure timely compensation for the victims.

PKNAP further urged the government to announce a special relief package for farmers, including provision of seeds, fertilizers, relief in agricultural loans, and other support measures to help them restart farming activities. It also called for urgent arrangements for temporary shelters, food, and medical assistance for displaced families.

Warning of a worsening humanitarian situation if timely action is not taken, the party said that it will continue to raise the voice of the affected people at all forums and ensure that their rights are protected.
