Canadian Intelligence Confirms Indian Involvement in Foreign Interference Efforts

Canada’s national intelligence agency, CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service), has confirmed in a new report that Indian officials, including proxy agents operating within Canada, have been attempting to interfere in Canadian domestic affairs.

According to the report, these activities are aimed at influencing Canadian communities and politicians in ways that align with India’s strategic interests. The report specifically highlights efforts to shape Canada’s stance on issues related to pro-Khalistan individuals and movements, suggesting that India seeks to suppress support for the Sikh separatist cause within Canadian borders.

This revelation comes just a day after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on the sidelines of the G7 summit and pledged to strengthen bilateral relations.

Relations between Canada and India have been strained since 2023, when Prime Minister Trudeau publicly accused the Indian government of involvement in the killing of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia. The Indian government strongly denied the allegations.

The latest CSIS report is likely to reignite diplomatic tensions and raise concerns over foreign interference in Canada’s democratic processes.
