Priyanka Chopra’s Mother Talks About Her Early Struggles in Bollywood and Her Protective Approach

Mumbai:Renowned Indian actress Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, recently opened up about her daughter’s early days in Bollywood and how she took charge of ensuring her safety on set during her initial career years.

Dr. Madhu Chopra shared that during Priyanka’s early days in the industry, she would “sit on set like a witch” to keep a close eye on things, as Priyanka was young and came from a very protected background. She mentioned, “We had heard that Bollywood wasn’t a safe place, and she was our only daughter, so we didn’t want to take any risks.”

Recalling a particular incident, Dr. Madhu Chopra revealed that Priyanka was once asked to listen to a private script narration by a director who insisted that her mother leave the room. However, Priyanka immediately rejected this request and walked out. She quoted her daughter saying, “If you can’t narrate the script in front of my mother, do you think I will do the film? No, I won’t.”

Dr. Madhu Chopra also praised Priyanka’s unwavering determination, adding that her daughter was never afraid of losing a film role and always had a backup plan. “Priyanka has always been very determined; she never feared losing a film and always had a plan B,” she said.

She also shared advice she had given to Priyanka over the years: “I always told her that if you present yourself like a penny, people will treat you like that, but if you make yourself like a rupee, people will value you and not treat you as trash.”

After stepping back from Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra has shifted her focus to Hollywood. She is currently preparing for her upcoming Hollywood films, *Heads of State* and *The Bluff*.
