Maulana Fazlur Rehman Condemns Attacks on Mosques, Calls Terrorists “Murderers

The leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has strongly condemned the targeting of mosques by terrorists, labeling them as murderers and criminals, not mujahids. He expressed these views during his visit to Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak, where he offered condolences and prayers for the late Maulana Hamidul Haq, who was martyred.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticized the use of weapons against religious scholars, questioning how a gun could ever be raised against an Islamic scholar. He emphasized that terrorists are using the name of jihad to mislead others, but in reality, they are causing harm, not promoting peace or righteousness. He said, “These people are not mujahids; they are murderers and criminals.”
He further highlighted the tragedy of losing Maulana Samiul Haq, whose son was also martyred, calling it a deep and painful loss. Rehman said that acts of violence against scholars and human beings in the name of jihad are nothing but terrorism. He shared that while he previously prayed for guidance for these terrorists, now his heart holds only curses for them.
He also pointed out that the attack on Maulana Hamidul Haq was not just an attack on him but on his own home and seminary. Rehman expressed that such separations are unbearable, and the only solution is patience. He vowed that these dark times would eventually pass, and religious scholars and their institutions would remain steadfast.
