American Woman Unwilling to Leave Pakistan After Rejection by Pakistani Man

For the past two months, an American woman named Onija Andrew Robinson has been in the spotlight in Karachi. Onija, who fell in love with a 19-year-old Pakistani man named Nadal, traveled to Pakistan to marry him. However, after arriving in Pakistan, Nadal refused to marry her. Despite this, Onija refused to leave Pakistan, and the situation escalated, with the Karachi police involved to ensure her safety.

Recent reports indicate that the Karachi police have decided to seek guidance from the federal government regarding Onija’s medical, psychological support and expediting her deportation process. According to DIG South Syed Asad Raza, South Police have written to the Additional Inspector General of Police in Karachi, requesting guidance from the Sindh government and federal authorities regarding her medical treatment and deportation.

Onija, who arrived in Karachi on October 11, 2024, came to meet her online friend. However, since her arrival, the man has disappeared, and Onija has been wandering around the city, which has raised concerns for her safety. Police have stated that she has been admitted to the psychiatric ward at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Medical sources confirmed that Onija’s reports show low hemoglobin levels, and doctors have suggested she undergo a blood transfusion. While she is cooperating with some medical procedures, her complete medical history is unavailable, making an accurate diagnosis challenging. Authorities also suspect that she may be facing psychological issues, and additional tests, including lipid profile, HIV, and hepatitis tests, are being conducted. The final report will be prepared based on the results of these tests.

The situation has drawn attention due to the complexity of the case, as the authorities are seeking both medical and legal clarity on how to proceed with her deportation and care.
