Islamabad:In a joint operation by local residents and the Levies Forces in the Zhob district of Balochistan, three armed kidnappers were killed while attempting to abduct two individuals. The kidnapped person was successfully rescued.

According to district administration officials in Zhob, the incident occurred on Wednesday when unknown individuals abducted two people from a clinic in the Gwal Ismail Zai area near Qila Saifullah. The victims were identified as Jumma Rahim, a resident of Zhob, and Masood Khan, a resident of Gwal Ismail Zai.

During the abduction, the kidnappers killed Masood Khan after he resisted, while they fled with the other hostage. Upon receiving immediate reports of the incident, Levies Forces and local residents chased the suspects, who abandoned their vehicle and fled into a nearby mountainous area.

The district administration in Zhob reached the scene soon after the incident. On Thursday, the abductors were spotted in the Musazai mountainous region near the border of Qila Saifullah and Zhob. Local residents, along with Levies Forces from both districts, pursued the kidnappers.

As the pursuers closed in, the kidnappers released the hostage, Jumma Rahim. However, the public and Levies Forces continued their pursuit, cornering the suspects in a rugged terrain. A gunfight ensued during which three kidnappers were killed. Two of the bodies were suspected to have died due to self-detonated grenades.

Jumma Rahim was rescued safely and later received medical treatment at the Civil Hospital in Zhob. His condition is reported to be stable.

Videos shared on social media showed hundreds of locals chasing the kidnappers through the mountainous terrain. Dr. Amin, the brother of the rescued Jumma Rahim, expressed his gratitude towards the people of Zhob and Qila Saifullah, emphasizing that it was the local tribes’ relentless 24-hour pursuit of the criminals that led to the successful rescue. He further stated that the efforts of the administration were secondary to the unwavering determination of the local community in ensuring the safety of the abducted individuals.
