KP Apex Committee Meeting Decides to Remove All Bunkers in Kurram District

Peshawar: The Apex Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, has decided to eliminate all bunkers in Kurram district and collect illegal weapons. The committee believes that these measures will help improve the security situation in the region.
The special meeting of the Apex Committee, which was attended by the Federal Minister for Interior, Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other senior civil and military officials, reviewed the ongoing situation in Kurram district.
According to sources, the committee believes that while there may be challenges during the process of removing bunkers and collecting arms, the overall security situation will improve once these steps are completed. The federal and provincial governments have agreed to take joint action and collaborate on the issue.
Tribal elders will be engaged through a Jirga (tribal council) to facilitate dialogue between the conflicting parties. Once the security situation improves, road networks will be reopened, and the supply of essential goods, including medicines, will continue to Kurram. Both the federal and provincial governments are committed to making joint decisions to improve the conditions in the region.
Earlier, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Dr. Saif, stated that lasting peace in Kurram is only possible with the removal of bunkers and the collection of weapons. He emphasized that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is determined to establish permanent peace in Kurram, and the cabinet’s decision to eliminate bunkers and weapons is a crucial step in this process.
