PM’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah Hints at Potential Military Trial for Imran Khan, Criticizes PTI’s Role in May 9 Riots
Islamabad:Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has hinted that PTI founder Imran Khan may face a military trial over his involvement in the May 9 riots, while emphasizing the importance of political dialogue to resolve national issues.
In a recent interview, Rana Sanaullah sharply criticized Imran Khan, accusing him of inciting economic chaos and the violent disturbances of May 9 through his speeches. He further asserted that military courts would deliver verdicts regarding the May 9 events within a week.
“Imran Khan’s speeches have played a significant role in the country’s economic instability and the May 9 riots,” said Rana Sanaullah. He reiterated that if Imran Khan is found to have been directly involved in the violence, he would face legal action under military law.
“PTI is essentially another name for Imran Khan. No one in the party can act without his approval,” he added, further stating that the former Prime Minister is currently focused solely on his release, rather than engaging in meaningful political discussions.
Rana Sanaullah also addressed the ongoing controversy regarding the Madressah Registration Bill, supporting JUI-F’s Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s concerns. “Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s position on the Madressah Registration Bill is valid, and the issue will be resolved in the coming days. It’s not as significant as some are making it out to be,” he said.
In addition to his political statements, Rana Sanaullah attended the inauguration of the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games, organized by the Pakistan Sports Board. During his speech at the event, he emphasized the importance of youth as a national asset, promising that the government would not allow them to be exploited by anarchists or violent factions.
