Heavy Rainfall with Thunderstorms Predicted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Flood Alert Issued

Peshawar – The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall with thunderstorms across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, accompanied by strong winds. Authorities have also issued a flood alert, advising caution for residents, particularly near rivers and streams.
In the provincial capital Peshawar and its surrounding areas, the early morning saw light to moderate rainfall, which helped in lowering the heat and made the weather pleasant. The region experienced gusty winds, further cooling down the environment.
According to the meteorological department, more rainfall with thunderstorms and strong winds is expected over the next few days in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Areas including Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Battagram, Shangla, and Kohistan are likely to experience heavy rainfall with thunderstorms. Additionally, places like Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kurram, and Mohmand may also witness intense rainfall.
Rain showers with gusty winds are expected in Chitral, Khyber, Orakzai, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, and Charsadda districts, while Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, and Tank may also experience rain. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also anticipated in several locations across North and South Waziristan.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of possible flooding in Kabul, Swat, and Panjkoora rivers due to the heavy rains. Local streams in areas like Swabi, Mardan, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, and Shangla may also experience flooding. Additionally, the risk of landslides in hilly regions could lead to road blockages.
As the weather shifts, temperatures have been recorded in various areas, with Peshawar at 38°C, Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu at 42°C, Chitral at 39°C, Mir Khani Chitral at 41°C, Drosh Chitral at 40°C, Upper Dir at 37°C, Lower Dir at 34°C, Kalam at 29°C, and Malam Jabba at 25°C.
The Meteorological Department has urged citizens to take precautionary measures due to the forecasted heavy rains, potential flooding, and the possibility of landslides.
