Three Petitions Regarding Election Rigging Dismissed Due to Non-Participation
Islamabad: The Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench has dismissed three petitions related to alleged rigging in the February 8, 2024, general elections due to non-participation by the petitioners. The petitions were heard by a seven-member bench led by Justice Ameen-ud-Din. Petitioners Qayoom Khan, Mahmood Akhtar, and Mian Shabbir, who had filed the petitions alleging electoral fraud, did not appear in court.
In another development, the Constitutional Bench postponed the hearing of the case filed by the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, alleging rigging in the same elections until after the winter holidays. The case was adjourned after PTI’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, requested a delay, citing non-receipt of the notice and lack of preparation. Justice Jamal Mandokhel reminded Hamid Khan that the notice had already been sent and advised him to stay in contact with his Advocate on Record (AOR) for further updates.
