JD Vance Says Iran Rejected U.S. Terms as Nuclear Talks End Without Deal

Islamabad:U.S. Vice President JD Vance has stated that Iran refused to accept American conditions, leading to the collapse of negotiations and the delegation’s return to the United States without any agreement.

Addressing a press briefing in Islamabad, JD Vance said the two sides held extensive discussions lasting around 21 hours, covering multiple key issues including Iran’s frozen assets and other strategic matters.

He said the U.S. delegation participated in the talks in good faith and demonstrated flexibility, while clearly outlining Washington’s positions and red lines.

“We came with a positive intent and wanted a constructive outcome,” he said, adding that Iran’s refusal to accept the U.S. terms ultimately prevented any deal from being reached.

He emphasized that Iran did not provide a clear commitment regarding nuclear weapons, stressing that the United States requires firm assurances that Tehran will not pursue nuclear capability.

JD Vance said some issues saw meaningful discussion, but the absence of agreement was “bad news” for diplomatic progress.

He further added that U.S. President Donald Trump had instructed the delegation to make every possible effort for a deal, noting that he remained in frequent contact with the president throughout the process.

The U.S. Vice President also expressed gratitude to Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying they played a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.
