“Corruption Will End the Day We Stop Ourselves: CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”
Peshawar: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, stated that corruption will end the moment individuals take the responsibility to stop engaging in corrupt practices themselves. Speaking at a ceremony on the International Anti-Corruption Day, the Chief Minister emphasized that while corruption is widely condemned, those in power are often part of the corrupt system.
He pointed out that despite many years passing, corruption has not been eradicated from society because people have not held themselves accountable. “The day we stop corruption, corruption will end,” he asserted. He also highlighted the need for grassroots efforts to combat corruption and said that people engage in corruption for personal gain or for the benefit of their children.
The Chief Minister further stated that corruption cannot be eliminated until corrupt individuals are punished. He emphasized the importance of self-reflection, mentioning that Islam prohibits speaking ill of others, and the society needs to focus on real action, not just empty words.
In his speech, Gandapur reflected on his own personal experiences, citing the loss of his mother due to cancer and the realization that money cannot buy peace or blessings. “When I won the election, my mother was in the final stages of cancer, and I couldn’t save her. Money couldn’t help,” he said, adding that true contentment comes from faith and righteousness, not wealth.
The CM also criticized the corrupt practices in the society, including bribery for jobs and cheating in educational exams, and warned that both the giver and the receiver of bribes are accountable for their actions in the eyes of Islam. “If you stop paying bribes, corruption will cease to exist,” he stated.
Gandapur concluded by saying that those who engage in corruption will not find peace or salvation. He urged the public to reflect on their actions, as true success lies in maintaining integrity and faith, not in accumulating ill-gotten wealth.
