India Launches Cowardly Missile Strikes from Own Airspace; Pakistan Responds with Precision, Downs 5 Jets, Destroys Brigade HQ

MUZAFFARABAD / ISLAMABAD:Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), **Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry**, has confirmed that **India launched unprovoked missile attacks** from within its own airspace, targeting civilian areas in **Bahawalpur (Ahmedpur East), Kotli, and Muzaffarabad**, resulting in severe civilian casualties and the destruction of religious sites.
In a press briefing, the DG ISPR revealed that the **enemy struck three separate sites**, including the **Subhan Allah Mosque** in Ahmedpur East, causing multiple deaths, including **children and women**. India also fired missiles at **Bilal Mosque in Muzaffarabad**, and schools, madrasas, and a hospital building in **Muridke**.
Major General Ahmed Sharif condemned the attacks as **cowardly and shameful**, stating, “India carried out these strikes without provocation, from within its own airspace. No Indian aircraft entered Pakistani territory — nor will they be allowed to.”
In response, **Pakistan Air Force (PAF)** swiftly launched **retaliatory operations**, **shooting down five Indian aircraft**, including **two Rafale jets**, a **MiG-21**, a **Sukhoi**, and a **Heron drone** over the **Barnala sector**. Pakistani jets also **destroyed a key Indian brigade headquarters** and a **Mahaar Unit’s battalion HQ** across the **Leepa Valley** in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Security sources confirmed that **a major Indian post (Sarya-1)** in **Kot Kathira Sector, Kotli**, and another at **Dudhnial Sector on the LoC**, were obliterated by **precision missile and mortar strikes** by Pakistan Army.
“India is targeting **innocent civilians and mosques**, which reflects the dangerous and extremist mindset fueled by the Modi government’s Hindutva agenda,” said Major General Ahmed Sharif. One of the mosques destroyed was **Shivai Mosque in Muzaffarabad**, near which **a young girl** was critically injured. The site had just been visited by **international and national media** a day earlier.
Amid growing tensions, **air emergency was declared at major Pakistani airports**, including **New Islamabad International Airport**, where **flight operations have been suspended** and **airspace closed** to civilian flights. **Three in-air flights** were diverted to alternate airports.
The strikes come days after a deadly attack in **Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir**, where 26 people, including tourists, were killed. **India blamed Pakistan**, and in retaliation, announced **unilaterally terminating the Indus Waters Treaty**.
“Let it be known,” the DG ISPR said firmly, “Pakistan reserves the right to choose the **time and place** of its response. We will **not allow any attack** on our sovereignty to go unanswered. India may fear death — but we seek martyrdom with pride.”
