Weekly Review on Legal Action Against Disruptors: PM Shahbaz Sharif
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced that a weekly review will be conducted on the progress of legal action against those responsible for spreading unrest in the country.
The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the task force formed to investigate the riots during the protest held on November 24 in Islamabad. Addressing the meeting, PM Sharif stated that the individuals responsible for inciting chaos had created a serious embarrassment by launching an attack on the capital during the official visit of the President of Belarus.
He emphasized that a weekly review would be conducted to assess the progress of legal action against those involved in spreading unrest. The government will take strict legal measures against those violating the law, damaging public property, and injuring or killing law enforcement personnel. He also highlighted the government’s plan to form a modern, internationally recognized anti-riot force in Pakistan and to upgrade the Islamabad Safe City project, incorporating a forensic lab to meet international standards.
During the briefing, it was reported that weapons, spent cartridges, and other evidence had been collected from the site of the violence, which would be sent for forensic analysis. The process of identifying the rioters is progressing rapidly, and once identified, they will be presented before the courts.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahsan Chima, Minister of Law Azam Nazir Tarar, Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah, and other senior officials.
