Two Attacks on Police in Dera Ismail Khan; ASI Martyred, Three Officers Injured
Islamabad:In a span of just a few hours, two separate attacks on police in Dera Ismail Khan resulted in the martyrdom of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and the injury of three police officers.
According to police reports, the first incident occurred in the Paharpur tehsil, near a bridge, where armed assailants ambushed a police mobile van. The attack led to the martyrdom of one ASI and the injury of two police personnel.
In a second attack, unknown assailants opened fire at the Darraban check post, leaving one police officer injured.
Police officials confirmed that following an exchange of gunfire, the attackers managed to flee. Authorities have launched a search operation and set up roadblocks in the area in an attempt to apprehend the suspects.
This comes just days after a major terrorist attack in the Punjab region, near the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border. Over 20 terrorists armed with modern weapons launched a sudden assault on the Chapri Police Station. The terrorists used rocket launchers and hand grenades to target the police station building.
However, a timely response by the police foiled the attack, resulting in the deaths of two terrorists, while two police officers sustained minor injuries. After the attack was thwarted, the terrorists fled to a nearby area. During a subsequent search operation by the police, another exchange of fire took place, in which two more terrorists were killed.
Authorities have heightened security in the region and are continuing their efforts to track down the militants responsible for these attacks.
