22-Year-Old Woman Crosses Line of Control for Love, Arrested in Azad Kashmir

Islamabad:A 22-year-old woman, Fatima Bibi, has been arrested by the police in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) after crossing the Line of Control (LoC) from Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Fatima, originally from the village of Karni in the Indian-administered Kashmir, crossed the heavily militarized border to reach her relative’s home in AJK, where she intended to marry her cousin, Imran Mir.

According to reports, Fatima had entered AJK’s Haveli district on Sunday after crossing the LoC. She was apprehended by the local police at her relative’s house. The police confirmed that Fatima’s paternal grandfather had once owned land in the same area before it became part of Indian-controlled Kashmir after the partition in 1947.
