All Political Parties Are United for a Protest Movement on Public Issues; Joint Struggle Against Terrorism and Lawlessness Will Continue: Media Talk After the All Parties Conference

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan Provincial President Asghar Khan Achakzai has said that due to the provincial government’s incompetence and weak governance, Balochistan has been engulfed in the worst instability, extremism and terrorism. Government authority in the province has ended to the extent that even the Red Zone has not remained safe from it. All political parties agree on the current situation and will come into the field to launch a protest movement against the government. A shutter-down strike will be observed across Balochistan, including Quetta, on 19 November.

He expressed these views while speaking to the media after the All Parties Conference. Asghar Khan Achakzai said that the increase in incidents of terrorism and extremism across the length and breadth of Balochistan is worrying, and the people of the province are forced to live in an atmosphere of insecurity and fear, while the government appears to have failed to control the law and order situation.

He said that the weakening of government authority in the province and the emergence of questions regarding law and order even in a sensitive area like the Red Zone are a serious question mark on government performance. The protection of people’s lives and property is the government’s basic responsibility, but in the current conditions citizens feel themselves unsafe.

Asghar Khan Achakzai said that all political parties participating in the All Parties Conference expressed concern over the current situation in Balochistan and agreed that a joint protest will be staged against public issues, instability and government failures. He made clear that a shutter-down strike will be observed across the province, including Quetta, on 19 November so that the people’s voice can be conveyed to the rulers.

He said that the people of Balochistan want peace, security and basic rights, and all political parties will continue a joint struggle for the resolution of the people’s problems and the restoration of law and order in the province.
