Gas Missing but Bills in the Millions Issued; Poor Citizens Are Bearing the Brunt of Sui Southern’s Incompetence; People of a Resource-Rich Province Are Forced to Burn Wood; Chief Minister Balochistan Should Take Immediate Notice of Unfair Billing and Gas Suspension: Rozina Khalji

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Social activist Rozina Khalji, condemning the gas company’s sending of heavy bills to citizens despite the non-supply of gas, has said that where gas comes from, the first right belongs to the people there, and after that, by ensuring gas supply to the people of the province, the heavy bills sent should be corrected and sent to the people. She said this during a press conference at Quetta Press Club.
She said that the people have to bear the brunt of the gas administration’s incompetence and mistakes. Bills of thousands and millions of rupees are being sent; consumers are making rounds of offices so that the bills can be corrected, but no one is listening. The poor and working class cannot manage two meals a day; they are unable to pay bills of thousands of rupees.
While due to the non-supply and suspension of gas, children and the elderly, and ailing citizens, are suffering, while women have to face severe difficulties in household chores. People in the VIP area are benefiting from gas, but people in the city and other cold areas of the province are deprived of this facility.
The residents and women of the area where gas comes from use wood to make ends meet, which has left the company’s claims of supplying gas to citizens in tatters. The residents of the area where gas comes from, and after them the people of Balochistan, are deprived of this natural blessing. The company, despite the non-supply of gas and prolonged load-shedding, is sending citizens bills running into thousands of rupees, due to which citizens are suffering severe mental anguish.
She demanded that citizens be sent bills according to the units they have used and that gas supply be ensured. We demand that the Chief Minister of Balochistan and other authorities ensure gas supply and the correction of bills.
