‘A New Dawn Has Once Again Broken in America,’ Says Zohran Mamdani

NEW YORK: New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has described the Democratic Party’s success in the US midterm elections as the beginning of a new dawn in America, saying voters are demanding meaningful change and practical relief rather than empty promises.

Commenting on the election results following the Democrats’ impressive performance, Mamdani said American citizens had become increasingly frustrated with inflation, soaring housing costs, rising childcare expenses and the growing prices of essential food items.

He stressed that people could no longer be expected to wait another two years for relief from the economic challenges affecting their daily lives.

The New York mayor emphasised that voters wanted concrete action and tangible improvements in their living conditions instead of political rhetoric and unfulfilled promises.

Criticising existing government policies, Mamdani reiterated that the government should prioritise essential public services, including education, healthcare and public welfare, rather than spending enormous amounts of money on unnecessary wars and defence expenditures.

He said the Democratic Party’s electoral success had created an important opportunity to translate its campaign promises into practical policies and bring meaningful improvements to the lives of ordinary Americans.

Mamdani underscored that the party must now focus on addressing the economic hardships facing the public and delivering the relief voters have been demanding.
