US Launches Major Operation Against Iran, Vows to Dismantle Missile Industry: Trump
Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced the launch of a major military operation against Iran, declaring that Washington will dismantle Tehran’s missile system and industry.
In a video statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump said the objective of the operation is to eliminate threats posed by the Iranian government and defend the American people.
“A short while ago, the US military began a large-scale military operation against Iran,” Trump said. “Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. We will destroy Iran’s missile system and missile industry, and we are going to eliminate its navy.”
He added that the United States would ensure Iran never acquires nuclear weapons and that all possible measures have been taken to reduce risks to American personnel in the region.
Trump also called on Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to surrender, saying they would be treated well with full immunity if they complied, otherwise they would face certain death.
The statement comes as the United States and Israel conduct joint missile and air strikes against Iran. Attacks have reportedly been carried out from both air and sea by US forces, while Israeli air operations are also ongoing.
Strikes have been reported in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Qom, and Karaj, with plumes of smoke seen rising over parts of the Iranian capital. Following the attacks, Iran closed its airspace to all traffic and warned the United States and Israel to prepare for a severe response.
