PTI Parliamentary Party Meeting: Mahmood Achakzai Faces Criticism Over Alleged Double Standards, Report Says

ISLAMABAD: A report about the internal proceedings of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary party meeting has claimed that participants strongly criticised National Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai over his alleged role and political stance, while praising the services of Allama Nasir.
According to senior journalist Naeem Ashraf Butt, participants reportedly questioned Achakzai’s position, alleging that he had approached Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for the release of his son after his arrest in Kharian a few months ago. He allegedly remained in Lahore until his son’s release.
The participants reportedly argued that when it comes to the release of PTI founder Imran Khan and his demands, Achakzai invokes principles and the Form 47 narrative.

According to the report, some PTI members expressed strong reservations about what they viewed as inconsistent political positions, questioning why different standards were allegedly being applied in the cases involving Achakzai’s son and Imran Khan.
The report further claimed that a senior PTI member of the National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended the meeting with a pre-drafted press release. However, the other parliamentary party members reportedly refused to endorse the prepared statement.
Journalist Naeem Ashraf Butt said the participants rejected what they described as a softened or incomplete version of the meeting’s proceedings.
According to the report, members insisted that the press release should reflect the actual discussions and candid exchanges that took place during the meeting, rather than presenting a sanitised account of the proceedings.
The claims about the meeting’s internal discussions and the criticism directed at Achakzai were attributed to journalist Naeem Ashraf Butt. The allegations have not been independently verified.
