Hafizullah Niazi Asked Someone How Long This System Would Last; The Reply Was Until 2035: Muhammad Zubair

ISLAMABAD (Daily Qudrat): Economic spokesperson of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan, Muhammad Zubair Umar, has said that Hafizullah Niazi asked someone how long this system would last, and the reply was “until 2035.” To this, he then asked what would happen in 2036 — and everyone fell silent. If you ask Iran, China, Saudi Arabia or Western countries, they will say this same system will continue — but this is the only country where the entire system revolves around one person.

Speaking on a podcast, he said that the most regrettable thing regarding Pakistan is the role of these so-called educated intellectuals in ruining the country, because the ordinary Pakistani has no part in it and does not even understand these things.

This educated class starts talking about a new system every ten years.

At a seminar, when the discussion turned to the system, Hafizullah Niazi asked someone how long this system would last. A journalist (whose name I will not mention) replied that this same system would remain until 2035.

Now you can think about why until 2035. Hafizullah Niazi asked a perfectly valid question: then what will happen in 2036? At this, everyone fell silent, and everyone realised what a powerful point he had made.

If a country sits back and says it does not know what will happen in 2036, then what will happen? Ask any Iranian and they will tell you this same system will run in 2036 as well.

Ask China, Saudi Arabia or Western countries, and you will get the same answer there too.

This is the only country whose educated supporters and followers fail to understand that they run the entire system around one person. As I say, if Ayub Khan was so sympathetic to this system, he should have announced it and stepped aside — then it would have been known that he was sincere, and the same applies to Musharraf and Zia. But because they were changing the entire system to keep themselves powerful and in power, such a system cannot be trusted, and it collapses with a crash.

This is clearly a war. I will not say they do this deliberately or that they are self-interested; they act according to their own logic, but a lack of thinking is certainly present among them.

I also asked this same question in a programme with Fahd Husain: why do we keep revolving around one individual? First, everyone was revolving around Bajwa; the entire assembly stood up and gave him an extension vote.

Today, if you call any of those 350 people and ask why they voted, and if someone tells the truth, there will be only one answer: we were afraid, we were scared.

Muhammad Zubair Umar said that this is the kind of pressure that has existed for the past four years. Look at that dark night — where it began and how it kept growing, and this chain has not ended yet. Two weeks have now passed since the recent abduction.

The Chief Minister — who is the only elected Chief Minister in the entire country, and everyone agrees on this — was abducted. The party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president, Junaid Akbar, was arrested. The Speaker… never in Pakistan’s history has it happened that even the Speaker was seized and abducted, with no one knowing where he is. What has he done? What was he accused of? Nothing! So we are in these circumstances, and Pakistan is currently passing through these very conditions.
