Monis Elahi Alleges Punjab’s Largest-Ever Wheat “Robbery”

LAHORE (Qudrat Daily) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Monis Elahi has claimed that a sensational and record-breaking corruption scandal worth billions of rupees has surfaced in Punjab’s official wheat procurement process.
According to details, PTI leader and former federal minister Monis Elahi, in a statement issued on the social media platform X, strongly criticized the provincial government over the wheat procurement issue, terming it the biggest wheat “robbery” in Punjab’s history. Presenting figures against the Punjab government, he raised serious questions over official transparency and administrative performance.
Monis Elahi said that a major target of 2.5 million tons of official wheat procurement was set in Punjab province; however, according to official records and documents, the procurement of only 160,000 tons of wheat has come to light. Where did the record of the remaining 2.34 million tons of wheat disappear, and where did this wheat ultimately go?

Levelling allegations, he further said that who will be held accountable for the 11 patwari-nawaz private companies and influential individuals involved in this serious irregularity? On one hand, the province’s poor and common citizen is severely distressed due to high bread prices and inflation, while on the other, the patwari government is continuously evading accountability for this massive financial irregularity and facing the public.
The PTI leader has demanded that a transparent and high-level investigation be conducted into the alleged mess in wheat procurement and records so that the truth can come before the public. Those elements and private companies who have robbed the poor people of their rights should be exposed and brought under the grip of the law, because the wheat crisis and this alleged corruption are directly affecting public lives and food security.
