Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch’s Resolution Calling for Complete Abolition of Sardari System and Bringing All Citizens Under Law Submitted in Balochistan Assembly

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Amir and Member of the Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has submitted a resolution to Provincial Assembly Secretary Tahir Shah Kakar regarding the abolition of the Sardari system in Balochistan and binding all citizens to the Constitution and law. According to a press release issued by Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch presented the resolution in writing during a meeting with the Provincial Assembly Secretary. The proposed resolution takes the position that certain so-called Sardars and Nawabs in Balochistan are committing oppression and tyranny against the people instead of working for their welfare.

Citing the incidents involving Asma Jatak in Khuzdar and Laiba Nizari in Kalat, the resolution demanded the abolition of the Sardari system. It stated that the title of Sardar and the Sardari system in Balochistan should be abolished and every citizen should be bound by the Constitution and law, because under the Constitution all citizens are equal and no one has legal superiority over another. The proposed resolution also includes a demand to end official patronage of Sardars and to bring anyone involved in oppression and excess before the law, so that the supremacy of law and equal rights of citizens can be ensured. Assembly Secretary Tahir Shah Kakar has assured that the resolution will be presented in the House soon.
