Faisal Vawda Claims 80% of His Predictions on KP Governor’s Rule Have Come True

ISLAMABAD:Former federal minister and Senator Faisal Vawda has said that the entire Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party is not aligned with terrorists, acknowledging that many party leaders have made sacrifices, but alleging that certain elements controlling the party were involved in activities linked to terrorism.
Speaking on anchor Asma Shirazi’s programme on HUM News, Vawda said he had predicted four months ago that governor’s rule and an emergency would be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi would be disqualified, and the PTI would face a possible ban.
He claimed that approximately 80 per cent of his predictions had proved correct, adding that the possibility of banning the party remained to be seen.
Vawda questioned why Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had become a major political issue when other provinces were also facing serious challenges. He argued that the situation in Balochistan was different because its provincial government stood alongside the state in the fight against terrorism, whereas, according to him, the KP government’s actions were harming the country.
He said approximately 7,500 people, including police personnel, military personnel and civilians, had been killed, highlighting the scale of the sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism.
Commenting on electoral controversies, Vawda said PTI could not claim that its mandate was entirely legitimate while alleging that other provinces had benefited from manipulated election results. He argued that allegations surrounding Form 47 were not exclusive to other political parties and that PTI had also faced similar issues, although to a lesser extent, according to his assessment.
The senator maintained that the imposition of governor’s rule had been carried out through constitutional means, despite earlier debates over constitutional and legal concerns.
Vawda said the next 180 days would be crucial for assessing the performance of the administration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that the period could potentially be extended, depending on the circumstances, and stressed that the primary focus should be on governance and delivering results to the public.
He described the KP governor as a capable individual and said expectations were high for improved performance under the new administrative arrangement.
Responding to Asma Shirazi’s question about Interior Adviser Rana Sanaullah’s reported remarks that Vawda should not be taken seriously, the senator described Sanaullah as a good person but argued that his approach to the system had become outdated and required a reboot.
Vawda reiterated that PTI as a whole should not be labelled as aligned with terrorists, while maintaining his allegation that certain elements within the party had been involved. His remarks reflect his personal political assessment, and the allegations were not independently verified.
