Barrier Removal Case: Imaan Mazari, Hadi Ali Chatha Indicted

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has indicted lawyer and activist Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in a case pertaining to the removal of barriers.

Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha were produced before the court via video link during the hearing.

During the proceedings, Hadi Ali Chatha objected to the indictment, saying he had not yet received copies of the case documents. He argued that charges could not be framed until all legal requirements had been fulfilled.

Their lawyer, Zainab Janjua, also told the court that neither Imaan Mazari nor Hadi Ali Chatha had been provided copies of the case documents, while the lawyers had also not been allowed to meet them.

Despite the objections, the court framed charges against both accused.

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra told the lawyers that they could challenge the court’s decision.

The court directed Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha to appear in person at the next hearing and adjourned the case until October 9.
