PTI Leaders Blame Afghan War for Economic Decline in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser has said that the decades-long Afghan war severely damaged the economy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Speaking at an opposition joint press conference, he stated that investment levels and industrial activity in the province collapsed due to the prolonged conflict. He added that all institutions must function strictly within the roles defined by the Constitution.
During the press conference, PTI leader Taimur Saleem Jhagra criticized the federal government, saying that those making decisions about the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award “do not even understand the meaning of the Federation.”
Jhagra added that policymakers lacked clarity on the difference between the federal government and the federation itself — a distinction essential for proper financial decision-making.
Meanwhile, senior opposition figure Muhammad Zubair said that even the Governor of the State Bank has urged the government to change its policies. He added that if the Prime Minister is unwilling to listen to the opposition, he should at least pay attention to experts within his own administration.
