Federal Government Prepares for PTI Protest in Islamabad with Increased Security and Road Closures
Islamabad:In response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s call for a protest and sit-in in Islamabad on November 24, the federal government has devised a comprehensive strategy to manage the potential unrest and maintain law and order. As part of the security measures, additional forces, including Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC), will be deployed across the capital.
Islamabad Police has also finalized its preparations to counter any disturbances during the protest. One of the key strategies is the closure of several key roads and routes to control the flow of protesters into the city. According to sources within the Islamabad Police, 24 locations in the city will be closed to ensure security and prevent large gatherings in sensitive areas.
Key roads that will be sealed include the Murree Road, where containers will be placed to block access to the city, as well as the Rawat T-Chowk, which will also be barricaded with containers. Additional security measures will include the installation of double containers at the main entry points, such as at Faizabad and the 26 Number Chungi.
Other critical areas that will be sealed off include the Srinagar Highway, New Margalla Road, and Iran Avenue. The 26 Number Chungi entry point from Taxila will also be blocked with containers, along with major roads like Faizabad, I-8 Sector, IJ Principal Road, and Margalla Road.
Furthermore, key intersections like Singjani, Faizabad, G-11 Chowk, Golra Mor Flyover, and underpasses will be fortified with containers to restrict movement. In the event of mass protests, the Red Zone—home to key government buildings—will be completely sealed off to prevent any protesters from accessing sensitive areas.
Authorities have emphasized that these security measures are being taken to maintain peace and ensure that public order is upheld during the protest, with the situation being closely monitored.
