Joint Condemnation Resolution Moved Against Balochistan Minister Sadiq Umarani
QUETTA: A joint condemnation resolution has been moved in the Balochistan Assembly against Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umarani over remarks regarding 235 people being called to Islamabad and allegedly being insulted there.
The resolution was submitted by Provincial Ministers Mir Ziaullah Langau, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Noor Muhammad Dummar and Ali Madad Jattak, along with lawmakers Barkat Rind, Asfandiar Kakar, Parliamentary Secretary Hadia Nawaz, Farah Azim Shah and Ashok Kumar.
According to the resolution, during the Balochistan Assembly session on August 31, 2026, Minister Sadiq Umarani made remarks stating that 235 people had been called to Islamabad, where MPAs were present and had returned after allegedly facing verbal abuse.
The resolution termed the remarks misleading, inappropriate and objectionable, saying they not only insulted respected members of the provincial assembly but also undermined the parliamentary status, sanctity, dignity and privileges of the House.
The lawmakers strongly condemned the remarks and called for the words to be expunged from the official proceedings of the Assembly.
The resolution stated that members of the provincial assembly are elected representatives of the people and that their respect and dignity reflect respect for the public mandate, democratic values and parliamentary institutions.
It further said that using unparliamentary, derogatory or insulting language against any member was not merely an affront to an individual but amounted to a collective insult to the Assembly and all its elected members.
The resolution maintained that the remarks had hurt the sentiments of both the public and members of the provincial assembly.
