PkMAP Says Commitments Made to Ziarat Martyrs’ Sit-in Committee Remain Unfulfilled
**PISHIN:** Leaders of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) have said that the commitments made under an agreement with the Ziarat martyrs’ sit-in committee have not been implemented, while armed groups continue to operate in Ziarat, Harnai, Shahrigh and adjoining areas.
They said the Pashtun-Afghan nation could only be freed from the painful situation confronting it in every sphere of life through national unity, consensus and a joint struggle by political and democratic forces on common points.
The party leaders described the recent wave of what they termed “imposed fake terrorism,” unrest and lawlessness in southern Pashtunkhwa as part of a planned conspiracy aimed at forcing the Pashtun nation to abandon its struggle for political, economic and cultural rights and control over its affairs. They vowed that the conspiracy would be resisted and defeated.
These views were expressed by PkNAP Central Information Secretary Muhammad Isa Roshan, Provincial Deputy Secretaries Ali Tareen, Syed Ehsan Agha and Mahmood Riaz, and Ulema Wing Organizer Maulvi Fazal Karim while addressing a meeting of the party’s district committee in Pishin.
The meeting reviewed the district’s previous report and discussed preparations for protest rallies and public gatherings against the ongoing security situation. It was decided that protest rallies would be held in Saranan Bazaar on September 4 and in Pishin Bazaar on September 7 under the auspices of the district’s All Parties Alliance and Traders Association. Meetings of various regional party units would also be organized as part of the preparations.
The leaders said the recent wave of violence in southern Pashtunkhwa was clear evidence of the failure of the government and its institutions. They said the primary responsibility of the government and state institutions was to protect the lives, property and dignity of citizens, but the situation of insecurity and lawlessness was worsening day by day.
They further alleged that the commitments made in the agreement with the Ziarat martyrs’ sit-in committee were not being implemented. According to them, armed groups were still present in Ziarat, Harnai, Shahrigh and surrounding areas and were involved in crimes against poor citizens.
They said the terrorist incidents in Saranan and Ziarat Cross, along with the failure to arrest those allegedly involved, exposed what they described as the duplicity of the government and its institutions. They termed the situation condemnable and unacceptable.
The party leaders directed workers to ensure the timely holding of party meetings and implementation of their decisions. They stressed that organizational activities should be strengthened on a monthly basis and that decisions taken at party meetings should be reviewed every week to ensure timely implementation.
They also urged party office-bearers and workers to make full use of their organizational capabilities to further activate, expand and strengthen the party.
