WhatsApp Tests AI Content Label Feature for Channels

ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp has started rolling out a new AI Content Label feature for channels, allowing channel administrators to clearly indicate when media in a post has been created using artificial intelligence.

Under the new feature, administrators can select the “Add AI Content Label” option when sharing an update. Once added, the label will appear prominently on the media bubble and cannot be removed later.

The label will be visible to all followers who open the channel, providing greater transparency about the origin of the media being shared.

WhatsApp initially introduced the feature to Android beta users and has now expanded testing to iOS users.

The feature is available in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 26.34.10.70 through TestFlight.

According to the company, channel administrators in some countries may also be legally required to disclose when they share AI-generated media. The new label is intended to provide users with clearer information about the source of content and help distinguish AI-generated media from other posts.
