Sheikh Hamad served as the Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and is widely credited with transforming the country into a modern, prosperous, and influential global state through major economic, diplomatic, and infrastructure reforms. In 2013, he voluntarily transferred power to his son, the current Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in a rare peaceful succession in the Gulf region.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep condolences over Sheikh Hamad’s passing, calling him a visionary leader whose wisdom and foresight helped shape modern Qatar. He praised the late Emir’s contributions to public welfare, regional peace, and development.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also extended his condolences, saying Sheikh Hamad played a significant role in strengthening the longstanding friendship between Qatar and Pakistan. He added that the late leader’s contributions to regional peace and cooperation would always be remembered.
