Hanna Urak Sit-in Enters Second Day as Security Operation Continues; Four Personnel Injured, 11 People Still Missing

Quetta: A protest sit-in by residents of the Hanna Urak area on Quetta’s Airport Road entered its second day on Monday following a deadly armed attack in the area, while security forces continued an operation against the suspected attackers.

According to local reports, the operation is being carried out by the police, the **Counter Terrorism Department> (CTD), the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF), and other security agencies in Killi Babri, Hanna Urak.

Officials said an exchange of fire took place during the operation, leaving four security personnel injured. The injured were identified as Sub-Inspector Waris, Assistant Sub-Inspector Saifullah, Constable Asadullah, and Constable Khadim Hussain, all of whom were shifted to a private hospital in Quetta for treatment. Superintendent of Police Nazar also reportedly sustained minor injuries during the operation.

Security officials said the mountainous terrain had made the operation challenging, but forces had advanced into most parts of the area, with the operation continuing into the night.

The attack on Killi Babri reportedly occurred a day earlier, when armed militants allegedly clashed with local tribesmen, resulting in the deaths of four local residents and injuries to eight others, according to local accounts.

Residents of Hanna Urak have continued their sit-in on Airport Road, demanding decisive action against those responsible and improved security before ending their protest.

Meanwhile, local tribal elders released a list of 11 people reported missing following the attack. The missing individuals were identified as Sanaullah, Amir Jan, Khudai Rahim, Irfanullah, Musawar Khan, Muhammad Daud, Sanaullah son of Sardar Muhammad, Matiullah, Abdul Nafi, Saifur Rehman, and Wazir Muhammad.

Security officials said the whereabouts of the missing individuals remain unknown and that search efforts are ongoing.

The protest has also caused significant traffic disruption on Airport Road, leading to long queues of vehicles and delays for commuters, including students, office workers, and patients traveling for medical treatment.
