Balochistan Police Arrest 1,447 Suspects, Recover Explosives and Arms in 2025: IG Pledges Zero Tolerance Against Crime

**Quetta:** Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has announced that the Balochistan Police arrested 1,447 suspects and recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, magazines, and explosives during 2025, reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against dangerous gangs, habitual offenders, and organized criminal groups.

Briefing media representatives at the Central Police Office on the annual performance of the department, IG Muhammad Tahir said that a comprehensive and effective strategy has been adopted to eliminate organized crime across the province. He emphasized that strict crackdowns will continue in all districts, targeting street crime, dacoity, robbery, murder, and kidnapping for ransom.

The IG stated that patrolling teams have been directed to further strengthen their operations, while supervisory officers in all districts have been instructed to take decisive action against drug peddling, illegal weapons, gender-based crimes, and organized vehicle and motorcycle theft gangs in major cities. He stressed that investigations will be completed swiftly to ensure exemplary punishments for convicted criminals.

Providing details of recoveries made in 2025, the IG said that police registered 1,438 weapons-related cases, during which 1,483 pistols, 118 Kalashnikovs, 187 rifles and shotguns, 39,786 rounds of ammunition, 21.98 kilograms of explosives, and 1,175 magazines of various types were seized.

On narcotics control, he said 1,507 cases were registered and 1,589 suspects arrested, with recoveries including 3,903.991 kilograms of hashish, 1,781.088 kilograms of opium, 20.55 kilograms of heroin, 252.448 kilograms of ice, 2.391 kilograms of crystal, 570 kilograms of sheesha, 4,564 bottles of liquor, and 3,904 beer cans.

IG Muhammad Tahir further disclosed that police recovered over 111 stolen and snatched vehicles and 880 motorcycles, arrested 725 wanted suspects, 4,799 proclaimed offenders, 10 convicted criminals, 255 kidnappers for ransom, and dismantled 103 dangerous gangs. During police encounters, 74 criminals were killed.

He added that stolen property recovered included Rs 69.7 million in cash, 286 mobile phones, and 35 tolas of gold. Police also seized 121,477 liters of petrol and 234,766 liters of diesel, sealed 1,110 petrol pumps, and took action against 35,438 vehicles with tinted windows.

Highlighting traffic enforcement, the IG said traffic police issued challans to 249,206 vehicles and collected over Rs 168.6 million in fines, impounding 1,868 vehicles and 21,462 motorcycles under the Motor Vehicle Act.

On terrorism, the IG reported 863 incidents across the province, including 325 major and 538 minor incidents, resulting in 403 martyrs and 796 injured. Police killed 81 terrorists during operations. He reaffirmed that police recruitment continues strictly on merit and without any external pressure.

Concluding the briefing, IG Muhammad Tahir reiterated the Balochistan Police’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order through sustained operations and institutional reforms.
