Father of Slain Karachi Resident Rejects Blame on Google Maps, Demands Justice

Karachi: The father of Ali Murtaza Jameel, who was killed in a militant attack in the Dasht area of Balochistan, has criticized the authorities for attributing the tragedy to Google Maps, calling it a failure of governance rather than technology.
Speaking to the media, the grieving father expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his son and said it was unjust to describe the incident as a minor mistake and shift the blame to Google Maps.
“Do not blame Google,” he said. “When there is no mobile network or internet connectivity in those parts of Balochistan, how can Google Maps be held responsible? This is not Google’s fault; it is the failure of the authorities.”
He argued that the incident resulted from human error and administrative shortcomings, not a flaw in the navigation service. He urged the government to accept responsibility instead of deflecting blame.
Calling for justice, Ali Murtaza Jameel’s father demanded a transparent investigation into the incident and urged the authorities to hold those responsible accountable. He said such tragedies should serve as a reminder of the need to improve security and infrastructure in remote areas to prevent similar incidents in the future.
