Iranian President praises Pakistan’s efforts for peace and dialogue during meetings with top leadership

Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian held separate meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, where both sides discussed bilateral relations, regional stability, and expanded economic cooperation.

According to official statements issued from the Presidency, the meeting between President Zardari and President Pezeshkian focused on strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations, regional connectivity, and economic collaboration. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties and promoting peace in the region.

President Zardari welcomed the Iranian president on his first visit to Pakistan following recent regional tensions, describing it as a reflection of the long-standing spirit of solidarity between the two countries. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stressed the importance of dialogue-based solutions to regional and global challenges.

The Pakistani president also congratulated President Pezeshkian on the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Islamabad, expressing hope that continued technical-level negotiations would lead to lasting peace. He emphasized Pakistan’s consistent opposition to unilateral actions and its support for diplomatic engagement.

President Zardari further highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to unity within the Muslim world and the importance of strong fraternal relations with Gulf countries. He also expressed condolences regarding the passing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and stated that Pakistan would participate in his funeral prayers.

In response, President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its constructive role in promoting peace and dialogue, appreciating Islamabad’s support during difficult regional circumstances. He reiterated Iran’s strong commitment to its relationship with Pakistan and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in political, economic, security, and regional affairs.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met the Iranian president at the Prime Minister’s House, where discussions were held in the presence of senior officials, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Asim Munir. Both sides agreed to continue high-level and delegation-level engagements to further strengthen bilateral ties.
