PTI, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Demand Release of Imran Khan, Call for Restoration of Democracy

Quetta: A high-level delegation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) met the leadership of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) in Quetta, where both parties discussed the country’s political, constitutional, economic, and security situation and jointly called for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and all political prisoners.

The PTI delegation included Members of the National Assembly Junaid Akbar Khan, Taj Muhammad Khan, Sohail Khan, Zubair Khan Wazir, and other party leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The delegation was received by senior PkMAP leaders, including Deputy Chairman Abdul Rauf Lala, Central General Secretary Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Provincial President Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan, and other party officials.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the country’s political, economic, constitutional, judicial, and social challenges. They also discussed issues including the distribution of resources under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, security concerns in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, unemployment, and restrictions affecting cross-border trade with Afghanistan and Iran.

In a joint stance, both parties demanded the release of Imran Khan and all political prisoners, stating that the restoration of constitutional governance, parliamentary supremacy, and democratic institutions was essential to overcoming the country’s ongoing crises.

PTI leaders alleged that the country was effectively under “martial law” and claimed that the participation of Imran Khan and other political leaders in the democratic process was necessary for political stability and national progress.

The PTI delegation also praised PkMAP Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai for his role in promoting cooperation among opposition parties through the Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan platform, describing his efforts to unite democratic forces as commendable.

PkMAP leaders reiterated their support for constitutional supremacy, parliamentary independence, and democratic governance. They criticized the current political system and alleged that the results of the general elections had not reflected the public mandate. They also expressed concerns over the security situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming that instability in the region was affecting local communities and development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, PkMAP leaders presented the PTI delegation with a biography of Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai and hosted a reception in their honor.
