US Will Not Accept Strait of Hormuz as Property of Any Single Country, Says Marco Rubio

Washington: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that the United States will not accept the Strait of Hormuz as the property of any single country, emphasizing the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway.
According to international media reports, Rubio made the remarks while addressing foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Bahrain.
He said the United States seeks a lasting and genuine peace that does not undermine the security and prosperity of the U.S. or its allies. Rubio stressed that Washington would ensure that no agreement is reached at the expense of its partners’ interests.
The U.S. secretary of state added that any future agreement with Iran must take into account the concerns and interests of regional allies.
Rubio also revealed that technical teams will return to Switzerland on June 30 to continue discussions with Iran regarding its nuclear program and sanctions-related issues.
He reiterated that the United States is committed to making a potential agreement with Iran successful and is prepared to take all necessary steps toward that goal. However, he emphasized that Washington would not recognize the Strait of Hormuz as being under the ownership or exclusive control of any one nation.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes, serving as a key passage for global energy shipments and international commerce.
