Timely Shift of Acid Attack Victim Prevented Irreversible Organ Damage: Aga Khan Hospital Doctors

Karachi (Qudrat Daily) – Medical experts at Aga Khan Hospital Karachi have stated that Dr Mah Noor Nasir, who was injured in the tragic acid attack incident in Quetta, was saved from severe and irreversible damage to vital organs due to her timely transfer to Karachi.
In a detailed briefing provided to Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, hospital specialists said that in acid burn cases, time is a critical factor as the effects of acid rapidly spread across the body, and any delay in specialized treatment can significantly worsen injuries.
According to the doctors, unlike ordinary burn injuries, acid-related wounds require immediate and specialized medical intervention within a very short time frame to prevent complications. They emphasized that Dr Mah Noor Nasir’s rapid evacuation to Karachi played a decisive role in her treatment.
The Head of Department at Aga Khan Hospital noted that had the patient not been shifted promptly to a specialized care facility, the acid exposure could have caused much more severe damage to vital organs. He said timely response helped reduce complications and avoided the risk of permanent organ loss.
Medical experts also praised the Government of Balochistan’s decision to arrange air transfer via the Peoples Air Ambulance, stating that rapid air evacuation in emergency cases plays a crucial role in saving lives and preventing long-term medical complications.
They further informed that the condition of the injured doctor is gradually improving and she is being treated under the supervision of expert medical professionals using advanced medical facilities. The doctors expressed hope for a positive recovery and rehabilitation process.
Experts added that the incident once again highlights the importance of timely emergency response, rapid patient transfer, and immediate access to specialized healthcare facilities in saving lives and preventing permanent physical damage.
