PM Shehbaz Says Pakistan Played Key Role in Easing Gulf Crisis During China Visit

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan played an important role in efforts to help resolve the ongoing crisis in the Gulf region and expressed hope that lasting peace would soon be restored.
Speaking at a ceremony upon his arrival at the Great Hall of the People for a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the prime minister said significant progress had been made toward peace.
He stated that Pakistan contributed actively to diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the regional crisis, adding that Asim Munir also played an important role in facilitating contacts between Iran and the United States.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, recent tensions affected economies around the world, including Pakistan’s economy, but developments were now moving in the right direction.
The prime minister further said that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the Chinese foreign minister had announced a five-point program aimed at supporting a ceasefire and peace efforts. He also thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives.
Highlighting bilateral ties, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan and China are celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and described the friendship between the two countries as historic and enduring.
He added that every visit to China brings an opportunity to witness the country’s remarkable development and modernization.
The prime minister also expressed condolences to the Chinese people over the recent coal mine explosion in China’s Shaanxi province and conveyed solidarity with the affected families.
Earlier, Premier Li Qiang warmly received Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon his arrival at the Great Hall of the People, where both leaders introduced members of their respective delegations.
