FIA Imposes Fine on Crew for Using Fake Maritime Documents at Karachi Port

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (Federal Investigation Agency) Immigration Wing has imposed a fine of Rs2 million on crew members found travelling with fake maritime documents at Karachi Port.
Officials said the action was taken at Karachi Port after irregularities were detected during immigration clearance of the cargo vessel CV Albert P, which was carrying 1,352 containers.
According to FIA authorities, four crew members were declared “inadmissible for immigration” after being found in possession of counterfeit seamen’s books and other fraudulent travel documents.
The vessel, registered under the flag of Marshall Islands, was inspected when both Filipino and Pakistani crew members were found using fake maritime credentials.
During the inspection, officials discovered that the crew had allegedly used forged seamen’s books issued under the names of Belize and Bahamas, while lacking valid flag-state documentation and mandatory international shipping papers.
Authorities said the enforcement action highlights ongoing efforts to curb document fraud and strengthen immigration compliance at Pakistan’s ports.
