Balochistan Food Authority Cracks Down on Food Businesses, Seals 3 Restaurants and Fines 42 Units

QUETTA (Web Desk) – The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has launched a major crackdown across the province to ensure the provision of safe and quality food, resulting in the sealing of three restaurants and fines imposed on 42 food business units.
According to officials, inspection teams carried out operations in Quetta, Pishin, Loralai, Dera Allah Yar, and Gwadar, targeting a wide range of food outlets including milk shops, grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, hotels, fast food points, and poultry shops.
During inspections, multiple violations were identified, including poor hygiene conditions, use of substandard and unsafe ingredients, improper food storage, presence of expired items, and lack of personal hygiene among workers.
As a result of the campaign, 42 food businesses were fined, three units were sealed, and 49 improvement notices were issued, directing owners to immediately address deficiencies.
BFA spokesperson stated that the most significant action took place in the Kuchlak Bypass area of Quetta, where inspection teams, in coordination with local administration, sealed three restaurants over serious violations of food safety laws.
Authorities reported major issues in the sealed restaurants, including extremely poor cleanliness, uncovered food items, use of non-food-grade materials, improper food handling and storage, presence of cockroaches in refrigerators, mixing of cooked and raw food, lack of pest control systems, open garbage, use of harmful additives, and rancid oil.
Officials have directed food business operators to strictly comply with food safety regulations and hygiene standards, warning that further strict action will be taken in case of continued violations. They reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing crackdowns to protect public health across the province.
