Balochistan Bans Corporal Punishment in All Public and Private Schools

Quetta: The Balochistan School Education Department has imposed a complete ban on corporal punishment and humiliating treatment of students in all public and private schools across the province.
According to an official notification, teachers and school staff are strictly prohibited from physically or mentally abusing students. The ban includes hitting, slapping, pulling students’ ears, or subjecting them to any form of physical punishment or psychological harassment.
The department has directed schools to adopt positive and respectful disciplinary practices instead of using violence or intimidation to maintain order in classrooms.
To improve accountability, every school has been instructed to establish a complaint register where students, parents, or guardians can report incidents of abuse. Authorities said all complaints will be investigated promptly and appropriate action will be taken where necessary.
The notification also warns that teachers and school administrations found violating the directive will face strict disciplinary and legal action in accordance with the law.
Education officials said the decision aims to protect children’s rights and ensure that schools provide a safe, respectful, and fear-free learning environment for all students.
