Rise in Street Crimes in Quetta Sparks Public Concern as Citizens Report Multiple Robberies

Quetta – Street crimes have surged in the provincial capital Quetta, creating serious concern among citizens as incidents of mugging, motorcycle snatching, and armed robberies continue to rise across the city.
According to residents, armed suspects are frequently stopping citizens at gunpoint in broad daylight and escaping after looting cash, mobile phones, and motorcycles. The growing trend has raised questions about the performance of law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.
Citizens reported that incidents are commonly taking place in busy areas including Jinnah Road, Zarghoon Road, Sariab Road, Spiny Road, Satellite Town, Joint Road, Double Road, and other commercial and residential localities.
Despite the presence of police checkpoints and roadblocks in different parts of the city, criminals appear to be operating freely, causing growing frustration among the public. Citizens have also complained that police response after incidents is often delayed and investigations fail to provide timely justice to victims.
They further noted that the failure to recover stolen motorcycles and other valuables, despite numerous daily thefts and robberies, reflects poorly on police performance. Many residents believe that there is a lack of an effective strategy to curb rising crime and arrest offenders.
Citizens of Quetta have urged the Chief Minister of Balochistan and the Inspector General of Police to increase police patrolling, establish an effective snap-checking system during both day and night, and launch indiscriminate crackdowns against criminal elements.
They stressed the need for immediate attention to the deteriorating security situation so that public fear can be reduced and citizens can resume their daily activities without insecurity.
