Balochistan Children Emergency Providing Free Medical Treatment to 600 Children Daily

Quetta: Balochistan Children Emergency Deputy General Manager Dr. Kamran Khan said that the facility has become the province’s only modern pediatric emergency center, providing free medical treatment and examination to around 500 to 600 children every day.
Speaking to the media, he said the institution was established in 2019 with the aim of offering timely, quality, and free healthcare services for children under one roof. According to him, 60 percent of the children visiting the emergency center belong to Quetta, while the remaining 40 percent come from other districts of the province.
Dr. Kamran Khan explained that patients are divided into three categories based on the severity of their condition. Critically ill children requiring immediate medical attention are treated on priority, while patients with less serious conditions are managed according to urgency.
He added that nearly 150 trained healthcare workers are currently serving at the facility, all of whom have modern pediatric emergency training. Efforts are also underway to provide further advanced training to improve the quality of healthcare services.
According to Dr. Kamran Khan, all medical facilities, from registration to discharge, are provided free of cost. He described the institution as Balochistan’s first dedicated children’s emergency center offering comprehensive emergency and basic healthcare services under one roof.
He further said that on the directives of Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, the emergency service has already been expanded to Khuzdar and Loralai, while work is in progress to extend the program to more districts so that people can access quality healthcare closer to their homes.
Dr. Kamran Khan noted that seasonal changes are leading to an increase in diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria among children. He said expanding such facilities at the district level would help reduce the burden on hospitals in Quetta.
He also urged parents to pay special attention to children’s hygiene and health by ensuring clean drinking water and quality food, and to seek immediate medical care in case of illness for timely diagnosis and treatment.
