Balochistan Health Card Program Provides Free Treatment to Thousands, Says CM Bugti

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the provincial government is ensuring free and quality healthcare services for citizens through the Balochistan Health Card Program.

He stated that for the convenience of residents, the national identity card itself has been designated as a health card, enabling citizens to access medical treatment without additional documentation.

According to the chief minister, the program is not limited to Quetta or the province alone, as a network of major public and private hospitals across the country has been included to facilitate patients.

Providing details, he revealed that over 345,000 patients have benefited from the initiative so far. Under the program, 69,000 dialysis sessions, more than 44,000 chemotherapy treatments, and over 1,200 radiotherapy sessions have been completed.

For cardiac patients, 7,784 angioplasty procedures and 575 bypass surgeries have been successfully carried out, while 304 children have received free heart treatment.

Additionally, 3,412 neurosurgeries and 12,300 orthopedic surgeries have been performed, along with 183 burn and plastic surgery cases under the scheme.

Focusing on maternal and child health, Bugti said more than 55,000 cases have been handled, benefiting thousands of women. The program has facilitated 24,688 normal deliveries and 20,344 C-section procedures.

He reaffirmed that the provincial government remains committed to further improving healthcare services and expanding facilities for the people of Balochistan.
